Richard Wood brings nearly 40 years of corporate finance and governance expertise to Tiaki Capital.  He has built a reputation for successfully structuring and executing complex transactions, with a particular focus on mergers, acquisitions and capital raising in the New Zealand and Australian mid‑market.

During his career, Richard has led landmark deals including the $1.03 billion financing of United Networks’ acquisition/divestments in the late 90s, and the roll‑up of several private training establishments to form Aspire2 Group. His ability to navigate intricate deal structures and manage diverse stakeholder relationships has earned him recognition as a trusted advisor who gets hard deals done.

Richard advises clients on divestments, acquisitions, debt and equity solutions, and can manage all aspects of a transaction.  His deep experience spans corporate finance, treasury, regulatory compliance and strategic planning, ensuring clients receive pragmatic guidance and innovative financial structuring.

Beyond his corporate work, Richard is committed to community impact.  He is the founder and chair of Salt Community Trust, a North Auckland charitable trust delivering social services, and has served on multiple governance boards across commercial and not‑for‑profit sectors.
